ABOUT THE 2025 OAKLANDON RED STORM

The Oaklandon Red Storm are competitive travel softball teams for ages 10-18 years old. FTT Red Storm teams play games and tournaments only against other designated full-time travel teams. Since FTT players do not participate in the recreational league, the FTT team’s season typically runs from January through July. FTT Red Storm teams travel throughout Indiana and to select tournaments out of state. Eligible players on the team for each age group must be of that age by January 1, 2024.

 

The Oaklandon Red Storm is a travel softball opportunity that promotes positive self-esteem, creates memorable experiences and camaraderie. Teams are coached by strong role models who lead by example. Our coaches focus on development, respect, life lessons, fairness and character, all in a safe, welcomed and positive environment. We emphasize the value of teamwork and responsibility to overcome challenges both on and off the field. OYO travel programs are committed to meeting and exceeding expectations by delivering high-quality, fundamentally sound and competitive softball experiences.

 

OYO offers two types of travel programs for softball. All our travel softball teams sport the name Red Storm. For softball, we offer all-star teams and full-time travel teams. This tryout announcement is for our 2024 Full-Time Travel teams only. (All Star tryouts will take place in March 2024.)

TRYOUT SCHEDULE & DETAILS

Make plans to participate in the tryouts for one of our full-time travel softball tryouts scheduled in July. The Full-Time Travel Oaklandon Red Storm (softball) teams will be hosting schedules on various dates between July 14-25. Please review the schedule below for the latest tryout schedule for each age group.

Tryouts for the 2025 Full-Time Travel Oaklandon Red Storm (softball) teams are being announced for approved teams. All dates, times and field assignments are customized for each age group (see above). For tryouts, players are requested to meet the following criteria:

  • All tryouts are scheduled to take place at Veterans Memorial Park, 12150 East 62nd Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46236 (see here for park/field locations)
  • Arrive 15-30 minutes early
  • All tryouts will run between 2-3 hours each
  • Catchers should bring their catcher's gear and all other players should bring traditional game-day equipment
  • Dressed for tryouts wearing appropriate softball attire
  • Do not wear any clothing or hats affiliating you with any past travel team (exception: helmets with team logos are permitted)
  • All schedules are subject to change, flexibility is requested
