OYO Knows: Become a Volunteer Coach at OYO!

At OYO, we believe that volunteer coaches play a crucial role in shaping the experience of our young athletes. Every year, more than 150 head coaches and 300 assistant coaches come together to lead, mentor, and guide our players. This collective effort helps create an environment where our players can not only develop their skills but also learn important life lessons along the way.

Coaching at OYO is a rewarding experience that offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young ballplayers. As a coach, you will have the chance to mentor and inspire, teaching valuable lessons about teamwork, respect, and perseverance, all while building meaningful relationships with players, families, and fellow coaches.

Whether you’re a seasoned coach or new to the field, OYO provides the support and resources to help you succeed in your coaching journey.

OYO conducts preseason Coaches’ Clinic to help all our coaches kick off each season. These clinics are designed to provide insight into the skills, fundamentals and drills for teams to use at every level.

Led either by veteran OYO coaches or local high school instructors, OYO hosts separate clinics for Tee Ball, softball and baseball divisions.

To encourage participation – and maximize the development of all players – this offering is part of the coach incentive program. When coaches attend (and sign in) for the respective clinic, the head coach will earn 20% of his/her coach incentive credit, which is applied to the coach’s LeagueApps account at the conclusion of the season for a future player registration.

Rest assured, OYO and the coaching fraternity we secure each season are committed to prioritizing player development and maximizing their experience at OYO.

OYO Knows: How to Prepare Coaches for a Successful Season

At OYO, we are committed to providing our coaches with the tools they need to create a positive and supportive experience for every player. If you’re a head coach or an assistant coach, attending our Coaches Orientation meeting is an essential part of the preparation process. This meeting is designed to ensure you have all the information necessary for a successful season, including important new guidelines, team development protocols, and tips for fostering player growth and enjoyment on and off the field.

Whether you’re a returning coach or new to OYO, participation is crucial for understanding your role and the expectations for the upcoming season. Coaches will also have the opportunity to provide valuable input during team development, which helps ensure balanced and fair team placements. While we do not hold a player draft, our commissioners will use feedback from the meeting and our team development formula to finalize team rosters.

Thank you for your dedication to OYO’s mission and for helping make the season a success for all of our players!
