All 2-5/8 inches bats regardless of size must display the USABat certification. However, any bat 2-1/4 inches is allowed as long as it does not display the USSSA 1.15 BPF logo on their bats.
- 4.10 – Regulation Game
- Junior Baseball – No team may score more than six (6) runs in an inning, except for the seventh and any subsequent innings during which a team may score a maximum of ten (10) runs per inning. All seven (7) innings shall be played if time permits.
- 4.10 – Mercy Rule
- Junior Baseball –If after 4 innings (3 and one half if the home team is ahead) one team has a lead of 10 runs or more, the manager of the team with the least runs shall concede the victory to the opponent. NOTE: if the visiting team has a lead of ten (10) runs or more, the home team must bat in its half of the inning.
- 5.10 – Calling Time
- Junior Rookie and Rookie – Using their judgment, the umpire will call time only when (1) a pitcher’s helper has control of the ball within the pitching circle, (2) the advancement of the lead runner has been stopped by the defensive team, (3) the ball goes out of play or no runners are advancing or (4) the coach pitcher touches the ball. Runners who have passed the 30-foot hash-mark when time is called will be allowed to proceed to the next base without liability to be put out.
- 6.04 – Tee
- Junior Rookie – Each player shall receive a limit of five (5) pitches or three (3) swings per at bat. After the fifth pitch, the batter shall have two (2) swings from the tee to cleanly hit the ball from the tee. Only when hitting off the tee if the bat makes contact with the ball, but the ball does not go beyond the three-foot circle in front of home plate, it will be ruled as a dead ball and count as a swing.

Team Selection Process
OYO strives to balance its teams and create parity in each league through careful team construction using coach evaluation scores from previous seasons, where possible. While we are committed to creating a positive experience for all ballplayers and families, including accommodating requests where possible, our primary objective is to establishing balanced teams and fun, competitive on-the-field experiences. In the end, OYO hopes this team construction process creates greater parity and fairness for all teams in every division.
Following each rec season since 2009, we have required all coaches to evaluate their players. This would ensure every returning player would have an evaluation the following season. While all parents are asked to rate their ballplayers during the online registration process, OYO only references those ratings for new players only. Collectively, this process enables us to use more skill-appropriate evaluations for a greater number of players entering the team selection process.
You can download the complete Team Selection Process for further review. Thank you for choosing OYO as your place for baseball!
Player Development
The OYO Way is at the heart of our league. As part of the OYO Way, we believe a progression of skills helps to develop the players as they move through the baseball program. It is an absolute privilege to be able to coach your ballplayer at OYO, and we are committed to establishing goals and benchmarks for players as they progress through our program.
As a result we have developed a Player Development Progression framework that will help our coaches commit to quality and relevant instruction for all players in all skill areas, including throwing, fielding, hitting, baserunning and pitching and catching, where relevant.
Check out this framework for how OYO coaches will maximize your ballplayer’s skill development in each of the following critical areas of the game at each level.
