David Manlove Memorial Tournament Generates $11,250 Donation For 24 Group
During OYO’s June Board Meeting, OYO proudly presented a check for $11,250 to The 24 Group from proceeds raised during the 2026 David Manlove Memorial Tournament. Accepting the donation were Betsy Backe, Board Chair of The 24 Group, and Kim Manlove, David’s father.

The David Manlove Memorial Tournament was established in 2002 in memory of David Manlove, a former OYO player who passed away in 2001 from cardiac arrest caused by huffing. Each spring, teams from across Central Indiana come together to honor David’s memory while raising awareness about substance abuse.
This year’s event marked the 24th annual tournament, a fitting milestone as David proudly wore jersey #24 during his time at OYO. Tournament proceeds, including donated concession stand worker wages and umpire fees, are presented annually to The 24 Group to support its mission of substance abuse prevention and education.
Since the tournament’s inception in 2002, the annual David Manlove Memorial Tournament has raised more than $80,000 for initially Fairbanks Recovery Center from 2002-2005 and later The 24 Group starting in 2006. This year’s $11,500 donation marks the largest single donation from the tournament, eclipsing the previous record of $9,800 presented a year ago.
OYO thanks all the players, families, coaches, volunteers, umpires, sponsors, and supporters who helped make this year’s tournament a success. Your support helps ensure that David’s legacy continues to make a positive impact throughout our community.
