MAKE A DIFFERENCE! JOIN THE 2026-27 OYO BOARD!
Make a difference at OYO by sharing your time and talents with all 1300 families and 2000 players, who call OYO home for their baseball and softball experience every spring, summer and fall!
Even though, we’re not even halfway through the calendar year and the Spring Season is not yet complete, it’s never too early to look ahead. We’re less than 90 days away from our 2026 Elections at OYO — and the task is just as daunting as ever when you consider the board involves more than 60 volunteers. So, we are preparing for the upcoming elections in September.
Want to get involved now? There are many known opportunities!

Now back to recruiting for the 2026 OYO Board Term!
So, more than ever, we’re seeking volunteers to eventually join OYO’s 50-position, 60-member Board of Directors — making it one of the largest youth sports all-volunteer board of directors in Central Indiana. If you enjoy giving back to the community and teaming up with friends from throughout OYO to create memorable experiences, then the 2027 OYO Board of Directors will be the place to be.
What’s the reward of being an OYO Board Member?
Being a board member is an honor and a privilege at OYO. We are fortunate to have a very diverse board. We have board members who have been involved for nearly 25 years and some as recent as last fall. We have board member representation from baseball and softball. We have some many from the rec league and some from the travel program, too. We have a nice balance between moms and dads, aunts and uncles and we also have a blend of those with children participating in the league and those who don’t and just enjoy giving back to a program that supported their family over the years.
So, why not you?
Dating back to our records from as early as 2002, more than 325 individuals have volunteered their time and talents as board members to help ensure our ballplayers and families could truly enjoy their OYO experience each season. These are not just board colleagues, but friends outside of OYO, too. Being a board member is fun and rewarding, too. Each board member finds great satisfaction in rolling up their sleeves and jumping in the trenches to work with fellow board members who work tirelessly for the children and families of OYO. More importantly, we are just everyday moms and dads — like you — who have a ballplayer or two playing at OYO.
So, why not now?
Just simply email us to express your interest in learning more about joining the OYO Board of Directors. Then, we’ll work with you to pair you with the role or need that best fits your interests. The chart below highlights the overall composition of the new board of directors organizational structure.
Elections for the 2027 OYO Board of Directors is Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Jenn Park.
Thank you for your continued support and choosing OYO as your place for baseball and softball. Now, we hope you will answer this call and make OYO the beneficiary of your servant leadership efforts in 2027. Rest assured, more than 2000 ballplayers from 1400 families will greatly appreciate the difference you make.
Come join the OYO Board!

Donations for The 24 Group Being Accepted Through Saturday, June 6
On Sunday, May 31, the Oaklandon Youth Organization rallied together for our 24th annual David Manlove Memorial Tournament in memory of #24. This tournament began in 2002 in memory of David Manlove, who played baseball at OYO from 1990-1997 and later at Lawrence Central sporting the jersey number 24, but died tragically in June 2001 from cardiac arrest caused by huffing.
All proceeds from this tournament — including concession stand profits and 100% of all umpire wages — are presented to The 24 Group, which was founded by the Manlove family to help support families and organizations affected by adolescent and teenage substance abuse.
So, if you did not notice the donation jars at the ballpark late last week or missed out on the 56 all-star teams from all across Central Indiana taking the field for 66 fun and competitive games yesterday, there’s still time to make a difference with a donation.
OYO will continue to provide donation jars at each concession stand through Saturday, June 6.
We hope you will consider making a small donation to The 24 Group the next time you are at the ballpark. And, again, 100% of all donations will be donated to The 24 Group. Thank you for your consideration of this timely request!

2026 Spring Season Tournament Central
ACCESS REAL-TIME BRACKET UPDATES HERE! (STARTING JUNE 12)
In preparation for the 2026 Spring Season Rec League Tournament, here are some important and timely reminders, updates and info to improve your experience throughout the tournament.
The Tournament | OYO operates a double-elimination tournament for all our divisions, except Tee Ball. The tournament runs from June 12-22 for our younger age groups. The older divisions (JBB and 14U/16U) begin 29. (Tee Ball should refer to its existing game schedule and participation trophies will be presented following the Future of OYO Parade which commences after all Tee Ball games are complete on June 20.)
The Brackets | The 2026 Spring Season Tournament brackets are available online, which we will do our best to keep up to date throughout the tournament.
Tournament-Specific Rules | Here’s a summary of all tournament-specific rules that are particularly relevant for the rec league tournament. For the full slate of OYO house rules, you also can access those here.
Home and Away | One of the most frequently asked questions is the Home and Away assignments. For all games, this is facilitated by the umpire during the pre-game coaches’ meeting with either a coin flip or ball roll.
Positive Experiences | We want to encourage all our families, coaches and players to end the season on a high note. Please remember, coaches coach, players play, umpires umpire and fans cheer. The more positive each facet of our league can be during the game, the more we can create a memorable experience for all our ballplayers. Please check out The OYO Way and the OYO Code of Conduct.
Ejections | While we hope we do not experience this on any field, for full transparency, any player, coach or fan who is ejected will be asked to leave the park and need to await reinstatement from the OYO Executive Board.
As always, thank you for choosing OYO as your place for baseball and softball. And, we wish all our teams “good luck” during the Spring Season Rec League Tournament!

May 27 Field Conditions at OYO | Game Status Update

OYO Fans:
As of 3:45 p.m. on May 27, the fields at Veterans Memorial Park are very saturated following nearly six hours of rain since 5 a.m. At this time, the OYO Board is reviewing all options available to us in terms of playing games this evening. We are continuing to monitor the draining conditions on all 14 fields, the immediate forecast conditions and viability for a majority, if not all, fields to be made playable in the next three hours.
The OYO Board is taking this decision seriously and being as deliberate and patient as we can be as we seek any possibilities available to play the scheduled games on Wednesday, May 27. Please note, there is no remaining openings at Veterans Memorial Park to reschedule any regular season games. So any regular season games on May 27 or any other forthcoming date will not be rescheduled.
The OYO Weatherline (317.767.5170) will be updated at 4:45 p.m. with plans for Wednesday, May 27. We appreciate your patience and understanding. And, as always, thank you for choosing OYO as your place for baseball and softball.
Respectfully,
The OYO Board of Directors

NOW ACCEPTING DONATIONS THRU MAY 29 FOR MANLOVE TOURNAMENT SILENT AUCTION
Through the support and engagement of many local businesses, the Oaklandon Youth Organization (OYO) is able to accomplish many amazing things for all the players, families and teams who make OYO their place for both rec league and tournament experiences.
What’s more, OYO is a family. And one of the greatest examples of our league’s support is now running 24 years strong. In June 2001, we lost one of our own. David Manlove. A once prominent OYO ballplayer in our rec league and all-star programs, David developed an addiction to drugs and alcohol which eventually led to David’s death after he huffed from a can of computer duster before jumping into a swimming pool and his heart went into cardiac arrest.
OYO has hosted the annual David Manlove Memorial Tournament every year since 2002 and all proceeds are donated to The 24 Group, a foundation founded by the Manlove family to raise awareness and education while supporting families affected by addiction. Since its inception, OYO has donated more than $65,000 to their charity, including $9,800 last year alone. Learn more about this tournament online.
In 2023, the David Manlove Memorial Tournament experience expanded to feature a widely-popular silent auction. Four years later, this tradition is alive and stronger than ever.
Is your company or business willing to donate of a product, service, experience, etc. for the tournament’s silent auction on Sunday, May 31, 2026? We are accepting donations through Friday, May 29. Access the donation form here!
Our past auctions have featured sporting event tickets, tourism attractions, lodging accommodations, dining gift cards, jewelry, apparel, health and beauty products, sports supplies and accessories, home improvement services, and much, much more. In addition, OYO is a 501(c)(3) organization so all donations are tax-deductible in accordance with all local laws and guidelines.
If you have a donation for The David Manlove Memorial Tournament silent auction, please send an email to the Revenue Generation committee.
Once again, thank you for your time, consideration and interest of this important initiative to honor David’s memory and support The 24 Group.
2026 SPRING SEASON TOURNAMENT BRACKETS NOW AVAILABLE
As we approach the final few weeks of the regular season, we are hopeful for much better weather and more on-field game day experiences. Nonetheless, in the games we have seen played to date, we are most impressed by the development of all our ballplayers, teams and coaches. Everyone has worked so hard this year to make this season fun and memorable when the weather has allowed.
All these efforts are designed to help teams progress and put themselves in position to be competitive during an exciting and enjoyable Rec League Tournament.
Rec League Tournament for 12 and Under Divisions | OYO operates a double-elimination tournament for all our divisions, except Tee Ball. The tournament begins on Friday, June 12 for Junior Rookie and Saturday, June 13 for all other divisions in this age group. The tournament will conclude on June 19, 20 or 22, depending on the division and possible “if needed” games. Depending on cancellations and delays we may experience courtesy of Indiana weather, the tournament may need to extend beyond the aforementioned dates. Please note, there are also multiple scenarios on June 13-14, where a team may have to play a double-header based on the outcome of their game.
The Tournament for 13 and Older Divisions | OYO also operates a double-elimination tournament for all both our Junior Baseball and our 14U/16U Softball divisions. The tournaments have different starting and ending dates — but the tournaments are schedule to commence on Monday, June 29 and conclude on Friday, July 3 — weather-permitting. Depending on cancellations and delays we may experience courtesy of Indiana weather, the tournament may need to extend beyond July 3, but we will not play any games on July 4-5.
The Brackets | At OYO, we are a developmental league first during the regular season. We do not keep standings, and all first round games/tournament brackets were completed through a blind random draw. This year, we are maintaining all brackets in one shared read-only Google document. If you have any questions about your bracket, please contact your coach or division commissioner. You also may email OYO for any clarification, as needed.
We wish all teams a memorable ending to their regular season. As always, thank you for choosing OYO as your place for baseball and softball. Play Ball!
