Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament

OYO Oaklandon Youth Organization logo

This year, the annual Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament is scheduled for June 24-27, 2027.

Oaklandon Youth Organization will host its 30th Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament, which is open to all rec travel baseball and softball teams. Full-time travel teams are not eligible, except for 14U softball as well as multiple age groups between 13U-14U in baseball. This tournament combines pool play and elimination games. Game minimums and fees vary by age group and sport (baseball/softball).

Founded in 1996, the Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament was started in memory of one of our founders. Bill Sturm long believed all children should be able to play youth baseball or softball regardless of their financial status. The league lost our leader suddenly to a heart attack, but his dream and spirit live on through this tournament. A portion of the proceeds from this tournament fund our general scholarship program that allows more than 75 children to play baseball or softball at OYO every year.

Welcome

Coaches,

Greetings! We are thrilled to have your team participating in our Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament! This tournament is very near and dear to our hearts at the Oaklandon Youth Organization (OYO). A portion of the proceeds from this tournament fund our general scholarship program that allows more than 75 children to play baseball or softball at OYO every year, who might not otherwise be able to.

So you see, this tournament is one of the highlights of the year for us at OYO. A chance to bring the community together on a beautiful sunny day, play some competitive baseball and softball, and raise funds for OYO’s scholarship program is paramount to what OYO is all about. Family. Friends. Community. Serving. Baseball. Softball.

We welcome you and your team to OYO, and we hope you will join us for a wonderful experience at this meaningful tournament this summer. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Forms

2027 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION FORTHCOMING

To provide proper oversight for the Annual Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament, we are asking for each team’s assistance by Friday, June 19. Team Roster and Code of Conduct forms can be downloaded below and at bottom of this page.

  • To ensure player eligibility, complete and submit an official Team Roster (download Word document).
  • To ensure sportsmanship, complete and submit a signed Code of Conduct (download Word document) by the head coach on behalf of entire team.
  • To ensure each team is properly insured, submit your team/organization’s Certificate of Insurance (to be provided by you).

Email All Items (Roster, Code of Conduct, Certificate of Insurance) in One Email with Your Team Name and Age Group in the Subject Line to Oyotournaments@gmail.com.

In 2025, we are completely digital. We are not accepting hard copies onsite in order to ensure all documents are available electronically the day of the tournament. Thank you for your assistance, cooperation and understanding. Coaches also should bring copies of each player’s birth certificate, but they can retain those in the event any player’s eligibility is in question. These do not need to be submitted.

Lastly, these forms must be received from each participating team – including all Oaklandon teams. If not received, we may stop your first game in progress until missing forms are completed and submitted electronically – and we will be unable to add time back on the game clock during this stoppage in order to ensure the day remains on schedule.

Rules

2027 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION FORTHCOMING

The Annual Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament will follow all NFHS rules, except where exceptions may exist for this weekend all-star tournament. Please download a copy and review all rules. Any questions about the rules can be sent via email to the Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament committee.

As always, we truly appreciate and value your participation in this tournament.

Schedule

SOFTBALL | Access the latest schedule and results here!

The Annual Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament will play all games between June 24-27. To achieve a four-game minimum, weather-permitting, all teams will play three pool play games (and some teams will play four pool play games due to having an odd number of teams in its age division) and a minimum of one elimination round game. Schedules will be posted by Friday, June 18.

Time Limits for Games

All Games: 1 hour 20 minutes, no new inning starts after 1 hour 20 minutes.
Same for Pool Play Games, Bracket Games and Championship Games.

Staying on Schedule

To ensure games stay on schedule, teams should be at the diamonds at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the scheduled game time. When possible, we will start games early to ensure the day stays on schedule. A 10-minute grace period will be extended after the scheduled start of the game. If, after this grace period of time has expired, a team has not shown itself ready to play, then the game will be forfeited and score will be recorded as 6-0.

Got Questions?

Any questions about the game schedules can be sent via email to the Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament committee. As always, we truly appreciate and value your participation in this tournament.
