David Manlove Memorial Tournament

It's been a quarter of a century since teams first took the field in memory of David Manlove. That’s right, 2027 marks our 25th annual tournament in memory of our beloved #24, the jersey number sported by the late David Manlove.
This year, the annual David Manlove Memorial Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, June 6, 2027, for all baseball and softball teams and select lower-level full-time travel teams in older baseball and softball age groups.
Every spring, Oaklandon Youth Organization hosts the David Manlove Memorial Tournament, a single-day memorial tournament to raise awareness about substance abuse. Team eligibility is based as follows:

This tournament continues to grow each and every year. In 2026, we are prepared to accommodate 60 teams and host more than 70 games in a single day of baseball for this important and meaningful memorial tournament. As teams begin to register, we will update the report below on who’s coming and which age groups still have openings.
Welcome
Dear Coaches,
Greetings! We are thrilled to learn of your interest in our David Manlove Memorial Tournament! This tournament is very near and dear to our hearts at the Oaklandon Youth Organization (OYO). This tournament honors one of OYO’s former players, David Manlove, who was an outstanding baseball player at OYO from 1990-1997 and went on to play on the freshman baseball team at Lawrence Central High School. David developed an addiction to drugs and alcohol which eventually led to David’s death after he “huffed” from a can of computer duster before jumping into a swimming pool and his heart went into cardiac arrest. Learn more about this tragic, heartbreaking story.
The following year, David’s parents Kim and Marissa Manlove approached OYO about making a donation in David’s memory. After exploring the options for remembering David, the OYO Board of Directors elected to remember David by hosting a tournament in his name. Almost every year since — and 2026 will be no different — the umpires donated their time to umpire multiple games. What’s more, it has helped us maximize our donations to The 24 Group, a foundation founded by the Manlove family to help families affected by addiction. We have been committed and dedicated in helping the Manlove family help teens and their families who are suffering from various forms of addiction. Through a nearly all-volunteer tournament operation, we have been able to donate more than $65,000 to The 24 Group in David’s honor and educate more than 6,000 youth baseball players and their families on the risks of drug and alcohol addiction.
What’s more, when tournament day finally arrives, if you have time between your games and you would like your team to hear from Kim or Marissa Manlove, then just ask and we can make it happen for you! On Tournament Sunday in late May, just stop by the Manlove tent near Fields 1-4 to indicate your interest.
So you see, this one-day tournament is one of the highlights of the year for us at OYO. A chance to bring the community together on a beautiful sunny day (which has always been David’s special contribution every year), raise awareness, play some competitive baseball and softball, and give back to this important cause is paramount to what OYO is all about. Family. Friends. Community. Serving. Baseball. Softball.
We welcome you and your team to OYO, and we hope you have a wonderful experience at this meaningful tournament this summer. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Coaches Overview
2027 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION FORTHCOMING
All-Star Coaches — Greetings! It’s our 24th year of remembering our beloved #24. First and foremost, thank you for your interest in the 24th Annual David Manlove Memorial Tournament! We are prepared to welcome approximately 60 teams for 70+ games on one memorable and wonderful day of baseball and softball. Please find below 14 important tidbits of information, resources and details about forms to be submitted. Please review the content carefully and reference the links provided.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT | Our OYO President has shared a heartfelt, compelling overview about this tournament and why it is so important to all of us at OYO, and why we hope you will take the time to meet David’s parents and help embrace the important message they are trying to convey to all families and players. Please note, this tournament is nearly a completely all-volunteer operation. All net proceeds from this tournament are donated to The 24 Group, which was founded by David’s parents — Kim and Marissa Manlove — to help families who are dealing with alcohol and substance abuse, especially among teenagers. You can learn more about the tournament and download the attached copy of the brochure that tells the story of David and his family as they experienced his struggle with substance abuse leading to David’s untimely death. Please take a moment to talk to your players and their families about David’s story. While we host this tournament to raise money in David’s name, the more important reason is to spread the word about substance abuse so our families understand addiction is a disease that no one is immune to it regardless of geographical location or financial means. The Manlove family will be present at the park all day Sunday. Please take an opportunity to stop by and say hello to them. Over the years, the OYO Family has learned nothing helps them heal more than seeing and talking to the kids at the ballpark.
TOURNAMENT IS MANAGED AND OPERATED BY VOLUNTEERS | For those who have not participated in this tournament in the past, we want to explain this is a different kind of tournament. Yes, we’re hosting a competitive tournament, but more importantly, we want to get a critical message out to your families and players. Our umpires are all volunteer umpires on this particular day. We have nearly 140 umpire slots to fill with qualified individuals who are volunteering their time. And, some of our veteran umpires are calling six games for free. Not one dollar will be spent on umpires for this tournament. Many of our umpires come from our umpire program at OYO, involving trained umpires as young as 11 years old and as old as, well let’s just say, veteran adults. Our head umpires for each game will be established, knowledgeable members of our umpire program. Please help your assistant coaches, players and parents understand we may not get every call right, but we will be doing our best on this day.
ONE STOP SHOP FOR ALL YOUR GAME-DAY INFORMATION | You can download everything you need for this tournament, including a complete list of participating teams on our official David Manlove Memorial Tournament web page.
CODE OF CONDUCT MATTERS | The OYO Code of Conduct is posted at the park and everyone is expected to follow this Code of Conduct. In short, “if the comment you are about to make isn’t a positive comment, then it is probably not allowed at OYO”. Please ask your team to keep that in mind.
FOLLOW OUR PARK LAYOUT | Discover our park location and download the facility’s layout so you can find the location of your field. Our fields are located in Veterans Memorial Park at 12150 East 62nd Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46235.
COACHES’ LIST AVAILABLE | We have consolidated all the teams and coach contact info in the 2026 Coaches List. We are sharing this as a courtesy to all teams, but we also ask teams be responsible with how you access and use this information, too.
THE GAME SCHEDULE | The complete game schedule is now available online. At that time, you will be able to download your age group’s schedule to track your team’s game times and game by game results. Teams should arrive at the park at least 30 minutes before their game time(s). Please be at your field ready to play at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time. We do not have enough time between games to allow for teams taking infield, but we do offer three batting cages teams can use on a first come, first serve basis. Please be considerate and share the cages accordingly. Our umpires will be shuffling between fields. So, we need the teams ready to play when the umpires arrive on your field. You can download the schedules as follows:
KNOW THY RULES | Also available on our website are the rules for each age group (subject to change). Please review these and email the committee if you have any questions.
VERY SIMPLE BAT RULES FOR ALL AGES | For this tournament, teams and players are entitled to use the bat of their choice.
TEAM ROSTER, CODE OF CONDUCT + INSURANCE CERTIFICATE | Please download and complete the team roster and code of conduct forms. Please submit your team roster, signed code of conduct form and insurance information electronically by Friday, May 22. All forms must be submitted to oyotournaments@gmail.com. If not submitted before your game, we will pause your game (while the clock is running) until all items are received.
COME WITNESS OUR SPECIAL PRESENTATION MIDDAY | At 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, please join OYO officials as they welcome and introduce Kim and Marissa Manlove, who will share their story and a few comments before the start of the 12:15 p.m. games.
CHECK OUT OUR SILENT AUCTION | Starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 31 until approximately 5:30 p.m., we will be hosting a silent auction between fields 1-4. There will be dozens of items available to bid on during this tournament. More details on the donations to be posted in the weeks ahead.
GOT QUESTIONS? | If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to text or email any of the following individuals who will be onsite all day and managing game day operations for this tournament. We just have one request. If and when you text us, we simply ask for you to indicate which team and age group you are with to help us best meet your needs and expectations.

Silent Auction
2027 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION FORTHCOMING
Silent Auction Letter
The David Manlove Memorial Tournament offers dozens of all-star teams the chance to play competitive baseball and softball. And while 13 teams will be crowned champion and another 13 teams will be recognized as runner-ups on this memorable, action-filled day of games, the true winner is The 24 Group, which receives 100% of all proceeds from this event to raise awareness about adolescent and teen substance abuse.
Supporting the 24 Group
To support the Manlove family’s commitment to raise awareness and increase education, OYO has hosted the annual David Manlove Memorial Tournament every year since 2002 (except COVID year). As a result, all tournament proceeds — totaling more than $65,000 since its inception, including $9,800 in 2025 — are donated to The 24 Group, a foundation founded by the Manlove family to support families affected by addiction. The donation continues to grow each and every year, in part, due to the expanded silent auction program we have established as part of this tournament.
Silent Auction Overview
This marks the fourth annual David Manlove Memorial Tournament silent auction, where all proceeds are donated to The 24 Group. Our past auctions have featured sporting event tickets, tourism attractions, lodging accommodations, dining gift cards, jewelry, apparel, health and beauty products, sports supplies and accessories, home improvement services, and much, much more. Lastly, OYO is a 501(c)(3) organization so all donations are tax-deductible in accordance with all local laws and guidelines.
The silent auction will take place on Sunday, May 31 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, the home of OYO and host site of the David Manlove Memorial Tournament. Unfortunately, at this time, we are not set-up to accept any online bids.
