Where is The Bullpen located?
After several years of facilitating workouts outside the Lawrence area, we’re bringing them back home. The Bullpen is situated within Lee Road Park at 6200 Lee Road, Indianapolis. Upon arrival, here are some notes:
- After entering Lee Road Park, drive until you see a gravel road on the right
- Drive slowly on the two-lane gravel road (recommend 10 mph speed limit)
- Park near the entrance on the west end of the facility (and do not park where you may block cars entering/leaving the area on the two-lane drive)
How should players dress for the workouts?
Players should wear clothes they would normally wear to a team practice. The facility is climate-controlled and should be reasonably comfortable, but we recommend players come prepared with a sweatshirt as needed.
What equipment does my ballplayer need and what should they wear?
We are asking every player to have their own helmet, bat and glove. In addition, your ballplayers should wear indoor practice attire, including tennis shoes or turf shoes. No cleats and/or spikes are permitted.
What’s not permitted at The Bullpen?
To help preserve the facility for all participants and age groups, we kindly ask each player and family to adhere to some basic guidelines including:
- No rubber cleats or metal spikes! (Players who wear cleats or spikes will not be permitted to participate until a pair of tennis shoes/turf shoes are available)
- No sunflower seeds
- No gum chewing
- Only clear drinks (e.g. water) in the workout area
- No throwing balls against the wall
- No aggressive use of ball carts or ball buckets
- Wear helmets at all times in the cages
Who are the facilitators in 2026?
All our sessions will be hosted by veteran OYO coaches. All sessions will be customized for each age group, and individual volunteer instructors will help players execute the drills being taught at the workouts. The facilitators per age group are outlined below:
- BASEBALL
- JRO-RB (Saturday) | Andre Beever, Rodney Younger
- JRO-RB (Sunday) | Heath Groves, Drew McCall, Rick Walther
- MB | Michael Houde
- SM-JBB | Heath Groves, James Oliver
- SOFTBALL
- 08U | Jenny Keve, Michael Keve
- 10U | Mark Wolfred, others tba
- 12U-14U/16U | James Enochs, Endiyah Gonzalez
Can more ballplayers register for this year’s Winter Workouts?
Yes. While we have formed wait lists for the Minor Baseball and Super Major/Junior Baseball sessions, all softball age groups and the Junior Rookie/Rookie session on Sunday evenings still has limited openings. New ballplayers can register directly online.

All-Star Tryouts Underway for 2026 Teams

Greetings! 2026 Starts Now!
We’re excited to announce all 10 all-star teams will have a great coach secured and are making plans for their 2026 All-Star season. We hope your ballplayer will join us for this competitive experience in 2026!
OUR TWO ALL-STAR PROGRAMS
We offer two all-star programs — Bombers for baseball, Red Storm for softball — which provide even greater challenges and expanded game opportunities for interested ballplayers seeking on Sundays and after the rec league season ends. Please note, to be eligible for the 2026 All-Stars, a player must also enroll and participate in the 2026 Spring Season, too. (Registration opens this winter for the 2026 Spring Season.
These teams will be formed in October and early November based on player participation at tryouts hosted at OYO. So, discover the coach for your child’s age group — and ages are based on the player’s age as of September 1, 2025 (for softball) and April 30, 2026 (for baseball) — using the links at the top of this page.
If you have a ballplayer between the ages of 6-12 in baseball or 6-14 in softball who might be seeking even a more competitive experience in 2025, then the all-star program is right for you.
Bomber Up! Go Storm!
ABOUT THE ALL-STAR EXPERIENCE
At OYO, we offer a wide range of programs to help players of all levels of skill, interest and passion experience more baseball and softball. Eligible participants must intend to participate in our primary and most popular program — Spring Ball recreational league. Our all-star program supplements the Spring Season rec league for all age-eligible rec league baseball and softball players who are seeking even more baseball and softball development and competitive game opportunities against teams from across Central Indiana. From experience, we know the “all star” term can generate a wide range of misconceptions. We’d like to set the record straight on our all-star program before you and your ballplayer miss out on a tremendous opportunity this spring and summer.
BACKGROUND ON BOMBERS AND RED STORM
Our baseball travel program is named the Oaklandon Bombers. Our softball travel program is named the Oaklandon Red Storm. And we offer two different levels — full-time travel (FTT) and all-stars. The full-time travel teams were selected last August and are all set for the 2026 season.
Our All Star squads are comprised of players from our rec league only, just as other youth program across Central Indiana do to form their teams. These teams practice or play games on Sundays during the recreational league season before coming together to play in local tournaments against similar clubs from other regional youth baseball and softball programs in June and July. In this new format, a new hybrid All Star Bombers/Red Storm experience runs from October/November through July. The team will practice together in the fall and winter utilizing OYO’s new indoor facility, practice or play doubleheaders on Sundays during the rec league season and then participate in four or five tournaments (again, all in Central Indiana) next summer. To participate on an all-star team, families are required to pay an additional fee, which varies from team to team.
TRAVEL TRYOUT PROCESS
Here is how OYO will manage the All Star team tryouts for age groups we’re able to support this season:
- Only players who will commit to participate in OYO’s 2026 Spring Season, are eligible to be selected for a Bombers or Red Storm All-Star team.
- Players must attend a tryout to be eligible for a team.
- If a player cannot attend the scheduled date(s) and time(s), then they may request an alternate tryout date within two weeks of the posted tryouts for the respective age group.
- OYO will seek to accommodate multiple teams in any age group where the interest from players is supported by qualified and eligible coaching candidates.
- No fees are required to participate in any tryout session.
BOMBERS TRYOUT OVERVIEW, INCLUDING COACHES AND SCHEDULE | BOMBERS BASEBALL
To be eligible for an All Star age group in Bombers, the player must not be older than the team’s age as of April 30 2026. Attendance is mandatory, unless other arrangements have been made with the team’s coach prior to the tryout to schedule an alternate time.
Players should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tryout time and should not wear any hats or uniform apparel affiliating them with any past travel team involvement (at OYO or elsewhere). However, a team-branded batting helmet is acceptable.
