2026 President Letter

OYO Fans!

From my first experience in Tee Ball at OYO more than 20 years ago all the way through many memorable rec league, all star and full-time travel baseball and softball experiences -- plus umpiring, concessions and volunteer opportunities -- my family has been blessed at OYO. We've come to find Veterans Memorial Park to be a very special place for our family as well as thousands of other families as a result of the many selfless volunteers who work so tirelessly to offer:

  • a strong sense of community
  • care and concern for each family and player
  • recreation and instruction for every player
  • a progression of skills for players as they advance through our program
  • emphasis on character development
  • fundamentally sound teaching of baseball and softball
  • unquestionable transparency, responsibility and accountability from all

At OYO, each and every board member fully understands and appreciates how OYO continues to be a special place for many. My fellow volunteers and I are committed to providing opportunities for ballplayers of every level and every walk of life. What's more, our hope is we also can provide a wonderful atmosphere for you and your ballplayers, as well, this season.

That's why we refuse to settle based on last year's amazing achievements. While we welcomed a record number of players, coaches and teams last year, we are making several significant improvements through our commitment to player development, coaches who embrace The OYO Way, a stronger umpire crew, more teams in all age groups, additional practice times for increased player development and more balanced game schedules.

What makes OYO truly special and unique? We value our families, develop our ballplayers and demand the highest integrity from all our players, coaches, volunteers, fans, umpires, concession staff and more through two guiding concepts -- The OYO Way and Code of Conduct. In short, OYO offers a dynamic multi-functional youth baseball and softball program that continues to evolve significantly since a handful of teams played their first games on fields at Oaklandon Elementary in 1975. OYO is not just another league or sports program. To explain, we couldn't settle on a Top 10...so here's our Top 20 lowdown on what your family will experience at OYO:

  • Quality uniforms with team sponsors
  • 90+ teams, 1000+ rec league players
  • Fair play rules
  • Player development emphasis
  • Spring and Fall Ball program

  • 14 fields and 3 batting cages
  • 10 All-Star teams
